Lady Evangels dominate Southwestern Christian at regionals

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Cris Smith was spectacular offensively with a match-high 15 kills to lead the fourth seed Mid-America Christian Lady Evangels into the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Regional semifinals with a 3-0 victory over the fifth-seeded Southwestern Christian Lady Eagles Friday afternoon (Nov. 19) at the Gaulke Activity Center.

The Lady Evangels cruised past the Lady Eagles by scores of 25-10, 25-19, 25-9. 

Smith's 15 kills came on 27 attacks against only three errors for a .444 hitting percentage. 

As a team, the Lady Evangels hit a solid .392 with 48 kills and 10 errors. 

Calle Solie recorded a match-high 39 assists, while Shelbi Johnson led the way with 11 digs. 

Felice Herren and Brittini Moore each led the Lady Eagles with four kills. 

The Lady Evangels will now face top seeded Colorado Christian in a 7 p.m. semifinal match, once again at the Gaulke Activity Center.
