After Kourtni Williams put the Lady Evangels in front 69-58 on a bucket with 3:36 left, the Lady Eagles began their charge back. Katy O’Steen started a game-ending 17-2 spurt with a pair of free throws that was followed by a trey from Katy Clift that cut the lead to six at 69-63 with 2:38 remaining. Talor Ward then nailed two at the charity stripe and hit a jumper that suddenly made it a two-point game with 1:38 left. O’Steen then converted a three-point play that gave the Lady Eagles their first lead since it was 4-3 early in the first half. The Lady Evangels had a chance to tie the score down 71-69, but Price was whistled for an offensive foul with 8.2 seconds left and Clift hit two more free throws for a four-point lead. Brooklyn Bell kept the Lady Evangels alive by connecting on a jumper with four seconds left, but Ward sealed the win for the Lady Eagles (7-6, 2-4 SAC) with two free throws. The Lady Evangels controlled the opening half as a three by Bell gave the Lady Evangels a 6-4 lead they wouldn’t relinquish until the late stages of the game. It was 6-6 when Brittany Woodard and Erica Jones each hit from three-point distance to fuel a 12-2 spurt that gave the Lady Evangels (7-5, 1-5 SAC) a double-figure lead of 18-8. Two free throws by Woodard made it an 11-point game, but the Lady Eagles charged back to within four with an 11-4 run. A three-point play by Williams extended the Lady Evangels lead to 34-27 at the break. Williams led three Lady Evangels in double-figures with 19 points and also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Price tallied 18 points, along with five rebounds and five assists. Woodard scored 10 and recorded seven boards. Ward led all scorers with 23 points, including 10-of-12 at the charity stripe. O’Steen had 18 and Clift added 11 points. The Lady Evangels out-rebounded the Lady Eagles 46-40 overall and 20-15 on the offensive glass.
