01/02/2012 By OCU Media Relations Senior Tiffany Goldwire notched her fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Goldwire turned in a perfect shooting performance going 8-8 from the field, 2-2 from 3-point range and 4-4 from the free-throw line. Six Stars scored in double figures to move their record to 12-0 on the season and 6-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. With the score tied at 9-9 with 17:23 to go in the first, senior Dietra Caldwell hit a 3-pionter to spark the Stars to a 24-8 run. Caldwell had seven points and Goldwire had eight to fuel the run and put OCU on top 33-17 with 11:38 to go in the half. Northwestern’s Talytha Williams and Audrey Richmond helped cut the OCU lead to 37-30 at the 7:04 mark of the first half. Junior Desiree Jeffries scored back-to-back layups and sophomore Kayla MacKenizie scored in the paint to cap a 12-4 run and give OCU a 51-34 lead with 1:23 left in the period. The Stars and the Lady Rangers traded buckets in the final minute of the half and OCU took a 54-39 lead to the locker room. The Stars shot 61 percent from the floor and were perfect from the free-throw line to take the 15-point lead. The OCU defense held Northwestern to 28 percent from behind the 3-point line in the half. Goldwire got the Stars going in the second half with a 3-pointer at the 19:17 mark and OCU poured it on with a 33-12 run to make the score 90-53 with 8:23 to play. OCU’s bench outscored Northwestern’s bench 29-2 in the second half en route to the 114-66 victory. The Stars shot 56 percent from the floor, 34 percent from behind the 3-point line and scored 28 point off 22 turnovers on the night. Goldwire added six assists and four steals to her double-double. Junior Lauren Gober followed with 18 points and six rebounds, and Jeffries posted 17 points and nine boards. Caldwell and fellow senior Nicollette Smith scored 15 apiece and Philicia Kelly added 10 points off the bench. All ten Stars scored in the contest. OCU reached 100 points for the 12th time in Rob Edmisson's seven-year tenure.
