11/22/2010 By SWCU Sports Information Danny Frid, a freshman from Raunds, England, was named a first team All-MCAC selection as well as MCAC Defensive Player of the Year and MCAC Newcomer of the Year. The Eagle's top defender not only helped hold opponents to just nine goals in 18 games but also led SCU in scoring, posting 12 goals and eight assists. Frid was also selected as a member of the NAIA's Unaffiliated All-Conference team, which includes players from the MCAC, DAC, and Frontier conferences. Jose Castillo, Jake Cottage, and James Cottage also were named to the MCAC's first team. James Cottage, a senior from Thrapston, England recorded eight goals and three assists while his brother Jake, a senior from Raunds, England recorded six goals and 19 assists for the Eagles. Freshman Jose Castillo of Oklahoma City tallied eight goals and one assist this season. Joe Shulberg, Niall Harrison, and Danny Hernandez were all selected for the MCAC's second-team. A sophomore from Oklahoma City, Danny Hernandez dished out five goals and five assists for SCU. Together, Shulberg, a freshman goalkeeper from Thrapston, England, and Harrison, a freshman defender from Kegworth, England, allowed just nine goals in the Eagle's 18 games and recorded 12 shutouts for the season. The MCAC also selected head coach Neil Cagle as the Coach of Year for the 2010 season. Cagle, thus far, has led his Eagles to a 17-1 finish in regular season play as well as an NCCAA Regional Championship. Cagle and the Eagles will now look to bring home a National Title as they compete in the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida on December 1st-4th.

BETHANY - In their debut season as an NAIA program, eight members of the Southwestern Christian University men's soccer team were selected to receive All Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) Team honors, announced by the MCAC on Sunday, November 21st.
